Bassist Galen Morris is making a name for himself as an emerging, young musician to keep an eye on. He is an active, multi-genre sideman in South-Central Indiana, and can be regularly seen playing with rock, blues, jazz, country, and pop bands around the area. Notably, Galen has performed with country artist Hank Ruff and jazz trumpeter John Raymond, and has performed in multiple musical pit bands, including Cardinal Stage’s productions “Newsies” and “A Year with Frog and Toad.” He was also featured on singer/songwriter Emma Walsh’s recent release Girl with the Flower Shoes, and he continues to accrue recording credits with many other area musicians.
Currently finishing as an undergraduate student in the rigorous jazz studies program at the prestigious Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Galen’s training has consisted of dozens of performances each semester. These range from playing in mainstage university halls to off-campus local venues, performing a variety of music including big band swing, Latin jazz, Cuban Danzon, and other popular music genres. In the near future, Galen will be relocating to the city of Chicago to further his performing opportunities.
